This classic game of luck, strategy, and determination is easy to grasp for children as young as 6 years old, yet it's fun for adults and older siblings too. By drawing cards, players move their game pieces around the board, hoping to eventually accumulate all their pieces at the final destination--home sweet home. Sorry is known as the game of "sweet revenge," since players can send each other's pawns back to the starting line, thus forcing one another to lose ground and begin all over again. This kind of frustration may be hard for children under age 8 to handle. In fact, young ones typically crumble into tears of outrage when their pawns are cavalierly sent back. The only recourse is to teach children how to plot their own revenge, which makes them feel as powerful as superheroes.

The rules are easy to follow and nothing that would confuse a child. I hate games that claim to be for children but is too complex for them to grasp the idea of the game. Its simple yet fun. What more could one ask for in a board game? I haven't played this in a very long time. I am glad the first time I did so in almost fifteen years it was with my son. Wonderful game that everyone will have fun and bond over. I am a firm believer in family game nights and this game will be included in it for a long time. My son who is 8 cannot get enough of it. I would recommend it, its cheap and its a great escape from the Blackberrys, iPhone's and droid's, tblets, and whatever reality show is the rave with these kids! - even if its just for an hour. Its worth it.
Cards are wimpish paper which is OK for learners cuz they're gonna get mauled 'specially in little fingers shuffling & dealing & then pondering which card to follow + reactions. Rather wish there was some kind of deck & discard box, so much fiddling w/untidy card piles. Rubberbanded the cards & put'em & the player pieces in a plastic bag so they don't get lost!
One of the oft forgot good manners games!
The board itself. Not sure why so many board games do this, but it’s the kind of board that folds over twice into a square. Not the board you just fold in half. This causes the boards to rip and come apart far faster than the boards that just fold in half. Ah, maybe this is the marketing ploy, hoping that instead of just taping the board, a whole new game is bought!
Next, the addition of Fire and Ice. Some cards say, move Ice then move 2 spaces, or move Fire then move 2 spaces. Ice is placed on an opponents game piece. Once placed the piece cannot be moved or bumped back to start until a move card is drawn by the Ice wearer. Fire is placed on your own piece. Fire allows you on your next move to move your game piece to any corner first before drawing a card. Also if you move into Home with Fire on, you can bring another piece of yours in as well. The con to this is it can make the games go SO fast. To some this might be a pro, but my family loves the game, not just starting over again and again. I was able to play 4 games in 15 minutes with my 9yo son. Now we play without the addition, like it much better!
The newer version is different than original in that you immediately can leave Start, you don’t have to draw a card for that. Again, liking to play the game, this change is both good and bad. It was agonizing to finally draw a Start card, only to have an opponents next move to bump that piece right back to Start. But that was also the SORRY part of the game! Moving immediately does make things go quicker.
And now the pros:
This is mostly the fun game I remember from my childhood, with just a couple updates. It’s a great family game with lots of laughs, my 6yo loves it and has become quite good at deciding on her own which pieces to move. All in all, highly recommend Sorry!
